Drums

Ronin Ewell
Schedule: Thu | Fri

Ronin Ewell grew up heavily influenced by music that played constantly in his household. From Soul, R&B, Funk to Jazz and so much more. When Ronin asked for a drum set at age 14 his parents were initially hesitant. They purchased a piano for him at age 7 and a trumpet at 9 which he didn’t end up playing for long. But on his 15th birthday they surprised him with his own first drum set. He was primarily self taught and when he changed high schools and joined band his sophomore year, he worked his way up from a percussionist to lead drummer for the school Pep Band, Jazz Band and Concert band snarist by his senior year. His experience in pep band taught him many genres including Pop, Rock, Funk, R&B, Latin, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Country.

While in high school he played drums in the orchestra for two high school musical productions “The King and I” and “Hello Dolly” and did orchestral percussion for the local church’s annual Christmas production “The Singing Christmas Tree.” His knack for jazz led him to start going to jams led by Sacramento’s own Reggie Graham and Levi Saelua and has recorded with Tahree Amir. Ronin is currently studying music with a concentration in Drums and Percussion Performance at William Jessup University in Rocklin, CA studying under Cameron Womack. He is also the current drummer for the William Jessup University Choir and Orchestra with whom he has recorded, toured, and actively serves on the worship team at Fair Oaks Church along with drumming at other churches here and there.
