Mikey LP proudly joins the team at Music Lab and brings his 30 + years of multi- instrumental, musical and theatrical experience. He holds a B.A. in Theater from CSU Sacramento and recently completed his required points to join Actor’s Equity Union once professional theater returns full steam ahead. He frequently works with Sacramento Theater Company and several other professional theaters in the region as both a pit orchestra guitarist/drummer and onstage as an actor/musician. Over the past 10 years, Mikey has worked with countless guitar, bass, drums, piano and voice students in both Utah and California. He also currently works as both an acoustic artist for, Voz Alta Studios which provides live musical entertainment for over 75 senior care facilities in the Nor-Cal region, and as Music Director of “The Natomas Evolution,” a student ensemble that performs various tribute acts all over the region. Currently, Mikey resides in Sacramento with his wife, Ernestine and their 7 month old son, Axel.
Over the years, Mikey’s various talents have crossed countless musical milestones. Various band of his have opened for The Original Wailers, Long Beach Dub Allstars, Frank Hannon (Tesla), Flyleaf, Jacoby Shaddix (Papa Roach), Middle Class Rut, Poison the Well, Zack Myers (Shinedown), Kris Roe (The Ataris), Mike Love, Orgy, Fishbone, Dance Gavin Dance, Dayshell, Black Map, Adelita’s Way, The Nickel Slots, Cemetery Sun, Joy & Madness and a plethora of other amazing acts. He has enjoyed several resident house musician positions at hotels, restaurants and cafés. He’s performed at countless: community events, wineries, breweries, weddings, memorials, private parties, bars, casinos, churches, theaters, pro venues, and festivals all over California, Utah, Nevada, Oregon, Texas & Oklahoma. He has toured extensively in the professional cover band circuit throughout Texas. In the summer of 2004, Mikey enjoyed a brief musical theater stint abroad in the British Virgin Islands. Mikey has self-financed several professional EP’s & full length albums of his original music via his various musical endeavors. His original music has been featured on FM radio & podcasts up and down the coast including 98.5 KRXQ and 95.7 KDRT in which he was called “a Northern Californian Treasure” by host DJ, Pieter Pastoor. His band, Mikey LP & The Krooks are currently recording their 3rd album.
