Def Santiago
Schedule: Tue | Wed
With over 30 years experience on guitar, Def has recorded and toured with his long time friend, and American idol star, Danny Gokey and renowned gospel artist, Michah Stampley, among many others. Def prides himself on being able to fit in with nearly any genre or musical culture on stage. He’s been a professional musician playing national and international venues, large and small, for almost 20 years. However, his favorite place to play is at his home church, Bayside Midtown Church in Sacramento. The diversity of ethnic culture, styles, interests and music artists are a perfect blend to thrive as a well-rounded musician. Def’s passion has always been teaching and sharing his experiences with others. He taught classes for ten years at a large coffee roaster in Milwaukee, and later, ran classes at a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu gym for military and law enforcement officers in South Carolina. Being able to teach guitar and impart his vast experience into new students is an exiting next step for him!

My board is deceptively simple but extremely versatile. It starts with a tiny, compact tuner, and runs into a Jackson Audio Blossom compressor. At the heart of it is the Neunaber Neuron. It’s a digital preamp for sounds ranging from completely clean to outright mean. I’m controlling my entire board via the Morningstar MC-6 MIDI switcher. My delays are from a Meris Polymoon, and my reverbs are from the new GFI Skylar. I can run this in stereo using presets into a live tube amp onstage (Mesa Boogie TA-30 combo amp) or direct to the FOH using a Strymon Irridium and a Diso+ line isolator. Underneath is all Strymon power. The rig is extremely quiet, flexible and fits inside a pedal train backpack. Set up and tear down is FAST FAST FAST!

My guitars are PRS, and a Taylor acoustic.
